sixteen-pointed Shamseh medallion opens from a quiet circular core at the center of a speckled off-white field. Radiating outward through concentric bands of gold leaf, vibrant ultramarine, and vermilion cartouches, the composition is anchored vertically by two small Neshan motifs aligned directly above and beneath the main rosette.

Executed in natural pigments and gold bound with acrylic medium on heavy cotton rug paper, the surface exhibits fine tactile inclusions inherent to the hand-moulded paper fiber. Sky-blue washes, violet floral passages, and dense vermilion arabesques sit in matte pigment density, bounded by delicate gold leaf outlines that catch shifting room light.

The compositional logic balances radial centrifugal energy with vertical alignment. Surrounding the unadorned central circle, an inner ring of soft turquoise floral scrollwork gives way to gold leaf motifs and bold ultramarine lobed points that reach outward like solar flares. Along the central midline, the upper and lower Neshan cartouches mirror each other, capping the solar orbit with small violet blossoms and gold finial tips.

Under ambient light, the contrast between the flat, speckled cotton substrate and the reflective gold leaf creates shifting luminosity. The precise brushwork on the outer flame-like tips casts sharp edges against the matte paper, emphasizing the physical labor of the illumination craft.
